Sound familiar?

  • Our staff already use AI tools, and we have no idea what they are pasting into them.
  • Everyone says we need AI. Nobody can say what it would actually do for us.
  • We heard AI will train on our data, or replace our staff, or is a scam. We do not know what to believe.
  • We already pay for AI in Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and do not know whether to turn it on.

What is included

  • Where AI fits: a short AI roadmap tied to how your business actually runs, naming the tasks where AI saves real time and the ones where it does not, without the hype.
  • A plain-English AI use policy: which tools staff may use, what information never goes into them, who checks AI output before it leaves the building, and who to ask.
  • Help choosing the tools: the AI already in the suite you pay for (Gemini in Google Workspace, Copilot in Microsoft 365), a business plan of ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, or open-source models on private hardware or a private cloud tenant for the most sensitive work.
  • The privacy terms and settings to look for: business plans whose terms state your data is not used for training, which I read and verify, plus admin controls, how long data is kept, and who gets access.
  • Staff training and an AI workshop: what these tools are good and bad at, which risks are real and which are rumors, how to check AI output, and how to spot AI-made fakes, scams and false claims.
  • Talks on safe, practical AI for chambers of commerce, industry associations and nonprofits.

What you receive at the end

  • A short AI roadmap: where AI fits, what to try first, and whether an AI pilot is worth it.
  • An AI use policy you can hand to every employee.
  • A tool recommendation with the plan, settings and terms to use, checked against your policy.
  • A trained team that knows what to trust, what to check and what never to share.

Who it suits

  • Businesses whose staff already use AI tools without any rules.
  • Owners who keep hearing they need AI and want a straight answer on where it fits.
  • Teams that handle client or patient information and need extra care with what goes into AI tools.

Where this work happens

Workshops and training work best at your office in Carson City or Reno; remote sessions work for clients anywhere in the US. The roadmap, policy and tool review happen remotely.

AI strategy: common questions

Will our data be used to train public AI models?

It depends on the tool and the plan. Free consumer chatbots often use what you type to improve their service, while business plans come with terms that say how your data may be used. I cannot control what a vendor does with your data. What I do is read the current terms, check the settings, pick tools that fit your needs, and write down what staff may and may not paste in.

Which AI tool is best: Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT or Claude?

None of them is best for everyone. If you already pay for Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, the AI built into it is often the right start, because it works inside the tools and files your team already uses. A business plan of ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini fits other needs, and open-source models fit the most sensitive work. I recommend on your needs, not a vendor's.

Is AI going to replace our staff?

In most small businesses, AI takes over tasks rather than whole jobs: first drafts, summaries, sorting and lookups. Your people still decide, check and talk to clients. The training covers how to work with it.

Do we need the assessment first?

No. The assessment includes an AI use review and is a good place to start, but AI strategy can begin on its own after a free call.

Do you give talks for associations and chambers?

Yes. A plain-English session on safe, practical AI for small businesses works well for chambers of commerce, industry associations and nonprofits. Get in touch to set one up.
